OPES held their school spelling bee on December 1, 2023. Six students from fifth-grade classrooms competed. The winner will compete against winning students in grades 5-8 from other schools in the District. The Smyth County Spelling Bee is usually held in February. Congratulations to all students, and especially to the OPES Spelling Bee Champion!

The Fall 2023 OPES Book Fair will be held Oct 2 - Oct 6 in the school library. Visit our book fair online to preview books from the fair and set up an eWallet for your student, a safe cash-free way for your child to shop the Fair by Friday, Oct 6. Orders can be made online through October 15, where 25% of every online purchase during the Fair directly benefits our school! We accept the following as payment at our fair: cash, credit cards, checks payable to Oak Point Elementary School.

The cost is $30.00 before December 15 and $35.00 after December 15. Please send a check, cash, or money order to the school with your student. Include your child's name, teacher's name, and a note stating that the money is to purchase a yearbook.

Earning money for your school is easy!
The Food City School Bucks Challenge program begins September 6th, 2023, and runs through May 7th, 2024.
Parents can link their Food City ValuCard to the registered school of their choice. Points will begin tracking on September 6th when the program begins.

The MSHS volleyball team will be hosting skills clinics beginning May 9th at MSHS.
The clinics are open to players of all skill levels. There are sessions for grades K-5, and also for 6-8. The cost is $15.00 per session.
